Song Jingxue, Minister of Research of the National Information Center for Household Appliances Industry, released the Annual Report of China's Household Appliances Industry 2018. According to the annual report, the scale of China's household appliances market reached 810.4 billion yuan in 2018, an increase of 1.9% year on year. In addition to color TV, air-conditioning, ice washing, kitchen and sanitary, small household appliances have achieved growth.
Consumption upgrading and industrial upgrading have become the engine of industry development. The market as a whole can be summarized in the words of "Damei Shuzhijian": "Damei" is mainly reflected in the growth of screen size of color TV, the increase of market share of large-volume refrigerators represented by opening doors and multiple doors, the increase of large capacity of washing machines and dishwashers, and the large volume of smoke machine. Taking color TV as an example, the data from the National Household Appliance Industry Information Center show that the average consumption size of the whole industry in 2018 has reached 49.5 inches, which is 0.9 inches higher than that in 2017. In the offline market, 55-inch and 65-inch retail sales account for more than 30% and 20% respectively, and more than 65-inch TV retail sales account for more than 10%.
"Beauty" is mainly embodied in the aesthetics of the appearance design of household appliances, such as color TV surface design, ultra-narrow edge design, color panel of refrigerator refrigerator, large window drum, creative small household appliances, etc. Taking the air conditioning market as an example, the air conditioning market in 2018 has appeared products with artistic and decorative elements, such as special-shaped air conditioning, double-column air conditioning, mural air conditioning and so on. "Shu" mainly reflects the consumer's pursuit of comfort of household appliances, such as air-conditioning without wind, washing machine drying function. Take non-wind-sensitive air-conditioning as an example, the data of National Household Appliance Industry Information Center show that in the offline market, the market share of non-wind-sensitive air-conditioning retail sales is only 1.6% in 2017, which has risen to 4.3% by 2018.
"Intelligence" is mainly embodied in the operability of household appliances. It is more convenient and easy to load WIFI, voice interaction, NFC functions, cameras, automatic placement and other functions. The market share of household appliances has increased significantly. Taking washing machine as an example, according to the data of National Household Electrical Appliance Industry Information Center, the retail sales share of intelligent washing machine (model with WIFI or automatic delivery function) increased from 36.6% to 39.8% in 2018.
"Health" reflects consumers'pursuit of health, such as refrigeratory fresh-keeping function innovation, washing machine self-cleaning, cylinder washing, health-preserving small household appliances, fresh air system and other hot sales. Taking the wall breaker as an example, with the growing health concept of people, in 2018, the wall breaker has maintained a high growth rate in the dual-line market. According to the data of National Household Appliance Industry Information Center, the market scale of wall breaker in 2018 is over 10 million units.
Throughout the household appliances market in 2018, domestic brands have shown strong vitality. Whether in the traditional big appliances market or in the emerging markets represented by dishwashers and wall breakers, the share of domestic brands is expanding rapidly. Traditional large appliances market, such as air conditioning, refrigerators, washing machine market, the share of domestic brands reached 90.8%, 76.8%, 63.8%, respectively; emerging categories, taking wall breaker as an example, domestic brands represented by Jiuyang, MeiMei and Supol have become the choice of more and more consumers.
From the big country of household appliances to the powerful country of household appliances, China's household appliances are speeding up. Looking forward to 2019, China's household appliances industry is facing new opportunities for development, despite the constraints of macroeconomic pressures and the continued tightening of real estate regulation and control. For example, the state has introduced a new policy on household appliances consumption to support the development of green and intelligent household appliances. The NDRC predicts that if the policy is promoted nationwide, it will increase the sales of 150 million high-efficiency and energy-saving intelligent household appliances and boost consumption by about 700 billion yuan between 2019 and 2021.
In 2019, China's household appliances market will continue to maintain a steady growth trend. The National Household Appliance Industry Information Center predicts that in 2019, the market size of household appliances will grow by 2.3% year-on-year, and the retail scale will reach 829.1 billion yuan.
